Potato Starch

Potato Starch

Potato starch is a refined starch extracted from potatoes, commonly used in both culinary and industrial applications. It has unique properties that make it versatile for various uses, especially in food processing and manufacturing.

Potato Starch is silkier and softer in texture than Corn Starch. Moreover it gelatinizes at lower temperatures than Corn Starch.

At UPE, potato starch production follows a simple yet efficient process. It begins with cleaning and peeling the potatoes, then grinding them to release the starch. The starch is separated from fibres and impurities through filtration and washing, ensuring it’s as pure as possible. Afterward, it's dewatered and carefully dried to produce the fine, powdery potato starch (which is used) we use in everything from baking to industrial applications. The by-products like Fiber and protein are repurposed, so nothing goes to waste, making the process both eco-friendly and sustainable.
